The Aboriginal Children's Advancement Society established and managed the Kirinari hostels at Sylvania and Garden Suburb and Biala at Allambie Heights to assist Aboriginal high school students to access educational opportunities. AHL took over these responsibilities around 1977. Through the establishment of the Kirinari hostels at Sylvania (Sydney) and Garden Suburb (Newcastle) the Society has been able to assist the Aboriginal high school students access educational opportunities which have enabled them to pursue futher education or obtain employment and in doing so, contribute in a positive way to society. ACAS also conducts or supports several programs which enhance the educational and cultural aspirations of Aboriginal youth. ACAS prides itself as an organisation which practises reconciliation in action.

The Australian Government acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout Australia and their continuing connection to land, water, culture and community. We pay our respects to the Elders both past and present.
