The association was first incorporated on 8th November 1923 under the name of The Prisoners Aid Association of South Australia. On 17th August 1977 it changed its name to Offenders Aid and Rehabilitation Services of South Australia Inc. In 2010 it began operating under the name OARS Community Transitions (OARS CT). It provides a comprehensive array of services for people in prison. It also focuses on crime prevention programs and restorative justice.
