The Smith Family has operated since 1922 and became an Incorporated Association in NSW in 1935. The organisation was originally knowns as Smith Family Joyspreaders Unlimited. It expanded into ACT and Victoria in the late 1970s and other states from the late 1990s. The Smith Family (ACT) and The Smith Family (Victoria) and Smith Family Joyspreaders are included in the Scheme as part of The Smith Family.
