Wingfield Camp School was opened to cater for the children of new immigrants housed in the Gepps Cross Hostel. When Wingfield Camp School closed in December 1952, the Grade 1 to 5 students moved to Northfield School and Grades 6 and 7 went to Gepps Cross School.
