The Hobart Women's Shelter is Australia's second oldest women's refuge. Established in December 1974 it is second by nine months after the Sydney shelter which opened in March 1974. Provide crisis accommodation and support to women and children experiencing family violence and/or homelessness. There were 2 Collectives, Annie Kenney and the Hobart Women's Shelter. Annie Kenney became Incorporated as a separate legal entity on 17 June 1981.
