The Parish of St Andrews in Marayong came into existence on February 1st, 1961. It was separated from Blacktown parish and was officially designated as the Parish of Doonside/Quakers Hill. This parish now has over 10,000 parishioners. The parish is very fortunate as they have parishioners from all over the world. These people brought with them the gifts of many and varied cultures and ways of expressing and living out their faith. This has enriched the parish community in many ways.

1952 The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth to establish their mission in Brisbane, Queensland. The sisters were commissioned to establish a boarding school for Polish children whose parents were working hard to establish themselves in their new country. 1956 The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth purchased the Boyd Street, Bowen Hills property from the Sisters of Mercy and placed it under the patronage of Saint Joseph.
